Irvine Valley sophomore guard Elizabeth Garcia has signed to play at Ottawa University in Surprise, Ariz. in the fall.
It was Ottawa's first season for women's basketball in 2017-18 and the team went 8-11 overall.
Recently, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the approval of Ottawa University Arizona for association membership, effective July 1.
Ottawa will compete in the Golden State Athletic Conference starting in the 2018-19 season.
The 5-3 Garcia was a two-year player and two-year starter for the Lasers.
She helped IVC to a record of 26-5 overall this past season.
Irvine Valley won a share of the Orange Empire Conference title and made the program's second-ever appearance in the CCCAA State Championship tournament.
The team ended up ranked No. 8 in the final CCCSIA Top 20 State Poll of the year.
Garcia played in 30 games and averaged 10.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game this past season.
She scored in double figures in 16 games and had a season-best 19 points in Irvine Valley's 85-55 conference win over Santa Ana on Feb. 7.
Garcia finished the year on a roll, scoring in double figures in eight straight games and finishing with 15 points or more in six of those contests.
She had a season-best 10 rebounds in Irvine Valley's 70-55 home playoff win over East Los Angeles on Feb. 23. And Garcia had at least five assists in 11 games this past season.
Garcia averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game as a freshman for Irvine Valley during the 2016-17 season.
She scored 19 points in Irvine Valley's 70-63 win over Santa Ana on the road on Jan. 27, 2017.
Garcia came to Irvine Valley from Orangewood Academy where she helped lead her team to a CIF title her junior season. She was named the school's athlete of the year her freshman, sophomore and senior years and was an all-CIF player as a junior and a senior.
