Baseball player Edison Polanco commits to Loyola Marymount

Irvine Valley freshman baseball player Edison Polanco has committed to play at Division I Loyola Marymount in 2027.

The third baseman spent last season at El Paso Community College in El Paso, Tex., which is a NJCAA school, but did not compete.

He played his high school baseball at Bettye Davis East Anchorage High School in Alaska.

Polanco competed in the Alaska Baseball League for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots this past summer. 

He played in 13 games and had five hits, including three doubles with four walks, three runs and four RBI for the Pilots.

In one of the games, he laced a two-run double in th top of the ninth to give the the Pilots an 8-7 victory over the Anchorage Bucs at Mulcahy Stadium.

Irvine Valley starts its spring season on Friday, Jan. 23 at Long Beach City at 1 p.m.
