Jarred Mazzaferro joins the Irvine Valleyt baseball coaching staff for his first season in 2025.
Born and raised in San Jose, Mazzaferro played at three collegiate programs - Ohlone College, the University of Washington, and Vanguard University, competing at the junior college, NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NAIA levels.
He began his college career at Ohlone College, where he quickly emerged as one of the top defensive shortstops in the state.
In 2021, he was honored with the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award for the Pacific Association Division, recognizing him as the best defensive shortstop in the division.
During his time at Ohlone, he also earned All-Conference honors while hitting .391 in his freshman season.
Mazzaferro transferred to the University of Washington, where he spent two seasons competing in the Pac-12.
Although his playing time was limited, he maintained a perfect fielding percentage in his defensive opportunities and gained valuable experience at the highest level of college baseball.
He completed his playing career at Vanguard University, where he became a key contributor over two seasons.
In 75 starts for the Lions, Mazzaferro hit .277 with 67 hits, 38 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, and a .389 on-base percentage.
Defensively, he posted a strong .972 fielding percentage in 2024, continuing the reliable glove work that defined his playing career.
