Trevin Esquerra played four years of Division I baseball at Loyola Marymount University. In 2019, he hit .322 with 40 runs, 75 hits, 20 doubles, 60 RBIs, and 16 home runs.
He led the team in batting average, slugging percentage, hits, RBIs, doubles, home runs, and total bases. His 16 home runs ranked second in the WCC and 40th nationally. He also led the team with 24 multi-hit games and 19 multi-RBI games.
That year, he was named to the all-WCC second team, the WCC all-tournament team, and the ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I West all-region second team.
Esquerra was named LMU’s Male Athlete of the Year in 2019.
Heading into the 2020 season, he earned preseason All-American honors and played in 16 games before the season was cut short.
Following the shortened 2020 season, he signed with the Detroit Tigers as part of the 2020 draft class.
After his professional playing career, Esquerra transitioned into coaching.
He spent three years at San Diego Mesa College before joining the staff at Irvine Valley.
He is now entering his second year as the hitting and outfield coach at IVC.
