Irvine Valley sophomore men's tennis player Alyan Ashraf is off to NCAA Divsion III UC Santa Cruz.
Ashraf was a two-year starter in the IVC lineup and helped the Lasers to a pair of Orange Empire Conference titles.
This past season, Ashraf played primarliy in the No. 3 spot in singles for Irvine Valley and helped the squad to a record of 11-2 overall and 8-0 in conference and a trip to the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
The Lasers fell to Glendale in the semifinals of the So. Cal. Regionals.
In 2023, Ashraf was part of an IVC team that went 8-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play and also made the playoffs.
He was named all-conference both seasons.
Ashraf is headed to a UC Santa Cruz squad that made the NCAA Division III Tournament this past season.
It marked tge 35th all-time NCAA berth in program history.
The Banana Slugs finished with a record of 10-11 overall.
