The Irvine Valley baseball team got another big day from sophomore outfield standout Ben McConnell and beat LA Valley, 15-7, on the road on Monday afternoon.
McConnell went 2 for 3 with a home run, four runs scored and two RBI in Irvine Valley's 10-run win over Grossmont on Saturday, and then followed it up with four hits in the game on Monday.
He went 4 for 5 with a triple, two runs and three RBI.
But McConnell wasn't the only Laser to star at the plate.
Freshman shortstop Robert Haw went 2 for 5 with two RBI, freshman first baseman Pu'ukani De Sa went 2 for 3 with a walk, freshman catcher Dante Catalino was 1 for 1 with two RBI, sophomore third baseman David Rojas drove in two runs and sophomore second baseman Trent Whitaker, sophomore catcher Ryan Santa Cruz, freshman infielders Artie Varela, Luke Armstrong and Spencer Weston each had an RBI apiece.
Irvine Valley was up, 6-4, heading into the top of the sixth inning and then broke things open.
The Lasers scored six runs in the top of the sixth and added two more in the seventh to go ahead, 13-4.
Sophomore Keenan Cisneros went five innings and gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts to pick up his second win the of the season.
Bradford ended the bottom of the ninth with three straight strikeouts.
Irvine Valley improved its record to 13-2-1 overall.
The Lasers play again Tuesday at home, hosting East LA at 2 p.m.
