Irvine Valley is the host of the Orange Empire Conference women's beach volleyball pairs championship, starting Wednesday at noon.
The first three rounds take place Wednesday with more consolation matches, the semifinals and championship final on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.
Irvine Valley's sophomore duo of Audrey Fowler and Avery Bennett are the top seeded pair in the event. Fowler and Bennett went undefeated for the Lasers during regular season conference play.
Other Irvine Valley teams in the field are sophomores Alya Mersin and Jayva Andersen (seeded eighth), freshmen Maia Garcia and Jheazrell May Quindoza (seeded 22nd) and freshman Valeria Leon and Jessica Lopez (seeded 28th).
Irvine Valley finished the regular season with a record of 10-14 overall and went 10-6 in conference action to finish in third place in the standings.
