Women's beach volleyball season ends at So. Cal. Regionals

The Irvine Valley's women's beach volleyball 2025 spring season came to a close on Saturday at the So. Cal. Regionals at Mt. San Antonio College.

The Lasers had two pairs competing in the event with a trip to the 3C2A state championships on the line.

IVC's top pair of sophomores Audrey Fowler and Avery Bennett and No. 2 team of sophomores Alya Mersin and Jayva Andersen each qualified through the Orange Empire Conference tournament the previous week at Irvine Valley.

Fowler and Bennett finished second in the OEC event.

The duo was seeded sixth at the regional competition, but had to pull out of the regionals due to an injury.

Mersin and Andersen were seeded 25th in the 32-pair bracket.

They dropped their first match, 21-11, 21-12, to the seventh seed from Mt. San Jacinto.

Mersin and Andersen were then knocked out of the event in the consolation round.

Irvine Valley finished its team season with a record of 10-14 overall and 10-6 in conference play to place fourth in the OEC.
