And while the Lasers played tough and battled. No. 1 Orange Coast was just too good for IVC.
The Pirates came away with a 25-21, 25-16, 25-17 win.
Orange Coast improved its record to 16-0 overall, while Irvine Valley slipped to 5-9 overall.
IVC fell to No. 2 Golden West, 25-19, 25-18, 25-11 on Wednesday on the road.
Orange Coast hit .316 on the night and Irvine Valley was at .072.
Irvine Valley received nine kills, four digs and two blocks from sophomore outside hitter Tucker McClain and freshman Connor Engelbrecht paced the team with seven digs.
Freshman setter Isiah Sibbitt ran the offense with 18 digs and chipped in one digs and one blocks.
Victor Loiola led the Pirates with 14 kills, three digs and four block assists.
Ben Bray added eight kills and six digs, while Seth Sainz and Bjorn Hawe controlled the middle with a combined 10 kills, no errors on just 14 attempts (.714 hitting percentage).
Irvine Valley plays again next Wednesday at Santiago Canyon in a conference match at 6 p.m.
