Irvine Valley's men's volleyball team played one of its best matches of the season and got back in the So. Cal. playoff race with a 25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, win at home on Wednesday night.
The Lasers moved their record to 7-12 overall and 4-7 in conference.
Irvine Valley was led by freshman outside hitter Cordae Sims. He finished with 17 kills and hit .343.
Sims also added 12 digs and two blocks.
Sophomore outside hitter Tucker McClain contributed 16 kills, six kills and three blocks.
Irvine Valley hit .370 as a team and limited Grossmont all night.
Also for Irvine Valley, freshman outside hitter Vance Giannini had nine kills and three digs, freshman setter Isaiah Sibbitt ran the offense with 40 assists and added nine digs and four blocks.
IVC sophomore libero Cage Gonzalez chipped in four digs and two aces.
