The Irvine Valley women's volleyball kept its sights set on a So. Cal. Regional playoff berth and a top spot in the Orange Empire Conference with a 25-16, 25-9, 25-13 at Santa Ana on Friday night.
IVC moved its record to 10-9 overall and 10-4 in the OEC.
Irvine Valley improved to within a match of Saddleback and Golden West for second place in the standings.
And the Lasers play at Saddleback in a key match for playoff seeding and record in conference on Wednesday at the Bobcats Wednesday at 6 p.m.
On Friday, IVC hit .372 as a team in the match for the night.
Irvine Valley was paced by sophomore outside hitter Alya Mersin, who finished with 13 kills, hit .500 (13-3-20) and added 11 digs, two aces and four digs.
Freshman setter/outside hitter Dalilah Rivero contributed 11 kills, hit .714 (11-1-14) and ended with eight assists.
Also for the Lasers, sophomore libero Emmi Scelzo chipped in 12 digs and three assists, freshman middle blocker Jazlynn Fu had seven kills and three blocks and freshman setter Tori Esko ran the offense with 21 assists and seven digs.
Freshman middle blocker Samantha Schellenberg had three kills, hit .333 and also finished with two blocks.
And freshman libero and defensive specialist Liliana Alvarez had 10 digs.
The Lasers are ready for the final week of the regular season.
