Former Irvine Valley standout baseball player Gavin Grutzmacher had a special season at NCAA Division I Coppin State University this spring.
The 5-11 junior infielder started 46 games, batted .317 (third on the team), added 27 RBI (also third on th team) and finished with a slugging percentage of .482 (tops on the squad).
He also ended with 52 hits, nine doubles, three triples and four home runs.
Grutzmacher finished with a team-best 79 extra base hits and his on base percentage (.481) also led the team.
The Eagles wrapped up the year with a record of 15-34 overall and were 13-17 in the Northeast Conference.
During the 2024 season at Irvine Valley, Grutzmacher played in 36 games.
He hit .260 for IVC with 33 hits, nine doubles, three home runs and 11 RBI.
Grutzmacher also stole eight bases and had a .402 slugging percentage for the Lasers.
He played at NCAA Division II Concordia University during the 2023 season before arriving at IVC.
Grutzmacher, out of Temecula Valley High, can play multiple infield positions and shined at third base in his season for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley finished with a record of 14-26 overall and was 5-16 in conference in 2024.
