Irvine Valley's men's soccer team recorded its second straight shutout victory and stayed undefeated in the Orange Empire Conference with another sparkling performance on Tuesday at home.

The Lasers got two more goals from sophomore striker Sean Goode in the first half, added a goal from sophomore midfielder Jose Rivera early in the second half and defeated Orange Coast, 3-0.

Irvine Valley, ranked No. 8 in the state, improved its record to 8-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in conference. Orange Coast fell to 3-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference.

The Lasers have now out-scored their four conference opponents, 17-3, and at home IVC has out-scored its three OEC foes, 14-1.

Irvine Valley broke open Tuesday's contest midway through the first half.

Goode, who is on an offensive tear, found the back of the net twice within two minutes.

In the 21st minute, Goode raced to a long pass from freshman defender Umayr Syed, beat the defender to the ball and then dribbled around the goalie before scoring near post.

Just over two minutes later, Goode was at it again. Sophomore midfielder Jose Gamboa swung a ball in from the left side and Goode finished.

The two goals gave him six in his last two matches and nine on the season, which leads the conference. Goode nearly scored two more in the second half on Tuesday.

Up 2-0, at the half, Rivera capped Irvine Valley's scoring in the 53rd minute.

Freshman forward Daniel Segal sent a pass out wide right to a rushing Syed, who flicked a pass inside to Rivera.

Rivera calmly beat the OCC keeper to make it a 3-0 game.

IVC had several other chances in the second half, including sophomore forward Connor Elder hitting the post, Rivera just missing right with a shot, Segal having a header from close range saved, Segal having his attempt to the upper right corner saved, Goode having two shots saved and sophomore midfielder Joseph Ferguson firing a shot over the top of the net.

Irvine Valley out-shot Orange Coast, 14-3, in the second half.

Freshman goalie Blake Sigler had to make just two saves in the contest in picking up the shutout. Orange Coast goalie Osiel Porcayo made seven saves.

Irvine Valley plays a big conference match on Friday, traveling to Santa Ana. Santa Ana was ranked No. 10 in the state this week.
