Irvine Valley's men's soccer team won its fourth straight game and fifth in its last six contests with a 4-2 victory over Cypress in an Orange Empire Conference match on the road Tuesday.
IVC improved its record to 13-4-0 overall and 8-2-0 in conference and stayed in second place in the standings behind Golden West.
Laser sophomore forward Sean Goode stepped up again for the Lasers on Tuesday.
He had his second hat trick of the season, finishing with three goals to lift IVC. The three goals gave him 14 on the season. It is the most on the team and vaulted him into the top spot for goals in the conference. Goode's 29 points also rank him second in conference.
In the 40th minute, Goode scored the opening goal off of a counter attack.
Irvine Valley let, 1-0, at halftime.
Early in the second half, Charger defender Hugo Toledo scored the equalizing goal after he got on the end of a ball bouncing in the box.
Goode responded quickly with a goal to give Irvine Valley a 2-1 lead.
Cypress scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute to tie the match at 2-2.
But then IVC took over.
Sophomore defender Peyton Stade and Goode scored two quick goals to give Irvine Valley a 4-2 lead. Stade scored off an assist from sophomore defender Taylor Davidson in the 80th minute and Goode followed with a goal off a pass from sophomore midfielder Jose Rivera in the 82nd minute.
Freshman goalie Blake Sigler finished with two saves in goal for IVC.
Irvine Valley plays again on the road on Friday, traveling to Orange Coast for a 3 p.m. conference match.
