Irvine Valley's women's flag football team fell to Golden West, 33-31, in a tough game on Thursday afternoon at Cypress College.

IVC led, 25-6, at the half, but was out-scored, 27-6, over the final two quarters.

Sophomore quarterback Akayla Chaple threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns and sophomore receiver Marisol Gongora finished with six catches for 58 yards and one touchdown.

Freshman receiver Maia Helmar added two touchdowns for the Lasers.

IVC was back at it on the training field on Friday to get ready for upcoming games.

Irvine Valley, which has a record of 9-3 overall, plays at Ventura on Monday at 3 p.m.
