Women's flag football team takes on Cypress for the OEC title

The Irvine Valley women's flag football team wil go after an Orange Empire Conference Tournament title when it takes on Cypress at home on Thursday.

Irvine Valley moved on to the title with a wild, 34-26, win over Golden West in the semifinals. Freshman standout Maia Helmar scored late to give the Lasers the lead for good.

Irvine Valley has a record of 14-4 overall and earned the No. 1 seed in the OEC tourney with its 4-2 record during the conference season. 

Cypress moved on to the conference tournament final with a hard-fought 12-6 victory over Saddleback last Thursday.

Cypress jumped out to a 12-0 lead and then didn't allow any more points until the final minute.

Irvine Valley and Cypress split games during the regular season in conference play.
