Flag football player Crystal Cervantes commits to Redlands

Irvine Valley standout women's flag football player Crystal Cervantes has committed to the University of Redlands.

She is the third player from the Lasers that headed to the Bulldogs, following sophomore teammates Allison Faggella and Marisol Gongora.

Cervantes, a sophomore out of Godinez High, was a center, wide receiver and linebacker for the Lasers the past two seasons.

She helped IVC to a share of the Orange Empire Conference regular title with Cypresss and then the Lasers rallied to beat Cypress, 32-27, in the final minutes to capture the first conference tournament title.

IVC finished with a record of 15-4 overall and was ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation.

Redlands ended with a record of 11-7 overall this spring.
