Irvine Valley's men's tennis team is aiming at another 3C2A state title.
The defending champion moved toward that goal with 5-0 victory over a solid Ventura squad at home on Tuesday in the second round of the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
The Lasers wrapped the match up early by taking all three doubles sets, including a solid effort on the third court by freshman Richard Petery and sophomore Jonathan Hinkel (8-6).
And then the Lasers took the first two singles matches on the board.
Freshman standout Philip Neuman, won 6-1, 6-1, on the first court.
Freshman Humam Alajeely clinchied the overall team win at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 finish.
