Irvine Valley freshman men's tennis player Philip Neuman was recently named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association 3C2A player of the year.
Neuman helped lead IVC to a state title and won the men's singles title in Ojai this spring.
He defeated teammate Steven Anderson in the state championship singles final, 7-6(4), 6-3.
He was ranked first in singles at the end of the year by the ITA and picked as an All-American.
Neuman and Anderson were also ranked fourth in doubles.
Neuman, from Luxembourg, was also the Orange Empire Conference player of the year.
Irvine Valley ended with an overall record of 14-1 overall under head coach Ross Duncan with its only loss coming narrowly to a four-year college.
