Irvine Valley's baseball team dropped just its third game of the season on Friday at College of the Canyons.
The Lasers gave up runs early to fall behind.
IVC allowed two runs in the bottom of the first inning and another run in the second.
Irvine Valley responded with two runs in the top of the third and another two runs in the fourth inning to go ahead, 4-3.
Sophomre designated hitter Jake Amundson hit a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and freshman catcher Shane Flynn hit another two-run home run in the top of the fourth.
But Canyons' batters took advantage after that.
The Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth and another five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good.
On the day, Amundson, Flynn and sophomore center fielder Brandon Abernathy each hit home runs with Amundson and Abernathy each having two hits and two RBI.
Freshman right fielder Sam Tucci added two hits, two walks and one run for Irvine Valley.
Irvine Valley's record went to 11-3 overall, while Canyons improved to 4-8.
Ben Strutt went 4 for 5 with four runs scored and Reid Farrell had two hits for the Cougars on the afternoon.
Canyons also hit three home runs in the game.
IVC hosts LA Valley next Tuesday at 1 p.m. in its next contest.
