Fullerton scored five runs in the last four innings and came from behind to defeat Irvine Valley's baseball team, 12-4, in the second game of a three-game series at Fullerton on Thursday.
The victory gave the Hornets the overall series victory.
Irvine Valley led, 4-0, after the top of the fourth inning, scoring three runs in the fourth on a two-run double to left field by freshman second baseman Adrian Covarrubias and a Fullerton error.
But Fullerton scored two runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 4-2 and then took the lead at 7-4 in the fifth inning with five runs.
IVC rallied and tied the game at 7-7 with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Freshman left fielder Kaden Aimer hit a sacrifice fly and then freshman catcher Caleb Caparco drove in two runs with a single to right field.
But again Fullerton scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the lead for good.
Irvine Valley's record went to 16-14 overall and 1-10 in conference, while Fullerton improved to 19-11 overall and 6-5 in conference.
IVC was paced at the plate by sophomore center fielder Brandon Abernathy, freshman right fielder John Uchytil and Covarrubias. Each player finished with two hits and Covarrubias and Caparco both had two RBI.
Sophomore left-hander Sam Tucci took the loss in relief for the Lasers, giving up four runs on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
