Women's soccer team shuts out Cuyamaca in 2025 opener

The Irvine Valley women's soccer team got its 2025 season off to an outstanding start on Friday.

The Lasers went on the road and shut out Cuyamaca, 9-0.

The nine goals were the most for IVC in a match since the team defeated San Diego City, 8-0, on Aug. 30, 2018.

Sophomore forward Kuuipo Laumatia led the way for Irvine Valley with two goals and two assists. Freshman freshman forward Paige Shanahan and freshman forward Maggie Contreras each added two goals.

Freshman Addyson Baumunk had one goal and one assist and sophomore sophomore defender Lilliana Springer and sophomore forward Megan Beal rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.

Springer also finished with one assist.

Sophomore midfielder Izzy Rodrigues, sophomore midfielder Keira Whitney, freshman forward Bella Vaglienty, sophomore defender Haley Flores and freshman midfielder Jenna Hannum also added an assist each.

All three goalies played 30 minutes apiece for the Lasers in the shutout.

Freshman Alexa Peterson started and freshman Jules Degroen and sohomore Joanna Valdez followed.

Degroen made one save.

IVC plays its first home game next Friday, hosting Grossmont at 3 p.m.
