Irvine Valley's women's soccer team battled and played Cypress tough, but came up short in a 2-0 loss in an Orange Empire Conference match at home Friday.
The Lasers' record moved to 7-4 overall and 1-3 in the OEC, while Cypress moved to 8-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference.
Cypress converted goals in the 41st and 51st minutes for the win.
Irvine Valley sophomore goalie Joanna Valdez made six saves in the contest.
The Lasers play again next Tuesday at Santiago Canyon in a conference match at 3 p.m.
