Women's soccer team battles, drops match to Cypress at home

Irvine Valley's women's soccer team stayed right with Cypress on Friday afternoon for most of the match.

But the Lasers came up short in a 2-0 Orange Empire Conference loss.

The Chargers, ranked as one of the top-10 teams in the state, scored in the 41st minute and then six minutes into the second haf.

Irvine Valley's record went to 7-4-0 overalll and 1-3-0 in conference play.

Cypress improved to 8-3-0 overall and 2-2-0 in the OEC.

Cypress out-shot, 11-4, on the day.

Irvine Valley sophomore goaie Joanna Valdez ended up with six saves on the afternoon.

IVC is back in action next Tuesday at top-10 in the state team, Santiago Canyon at 3 p.m.
