Irvine Valley sophomore star women's soccer playter Kuuipo Laumatia has signed with NAIA Westcliff University in Irvine.
Laumatia helped Irvine Valley to one of its best seasons in recent years last fall.
The Lasers finished with a record of 11-9-1 and went 5-8-1 in the always tough Orange Empire Conference.
IVC just missed making the So. Cal. Regional Playoffs.
Laumatia, a striker, had a breakout season. She played in 17 matches and started 16 contests.
Laumatia led Irvine Valley in goals and points. She finished with 17 goals and five assists for 39 points and was named first team all-conference.
She also had three game-winning goals. Laumatia scored two goals in five matches, including both goals in IVC's 2-0 conference win at Fullerton on Nov. 11.
In her two years at Irvine Valley, Laumatia played in 37 matches and started 35. She ended her career with 19 goals and 11 assists for 49 points.
She heads to a Westcliff program that had a special season last fall.
The team ended with a record of 17-2-1 overall and had a perfect 8-0 Cal Pac campaign for a conference championship under coach Jack Gidney.
The squad also made its third NAIA national-tournament appearance in four years.
