Irvine Valley two-year men's basketball starter and two-year all-Orange Empire Conference player Matt Mowers has committed to NCAA Division II Rogers State in Oklahoma.
Mowers, a sophomore post player, was picked to the first team for the second straight season in the OEC this past season, helping lead IVC to a record of 17-13 overall and a trip to the So. Cal. Regional playoffs.
The 6-6 Mowers, out of Trabuco Hills High, averaged 15.3 points, shot 58.1 percent from the field, and also contributed 6.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists for the Lasers in 2025-26.
He scored in double figures in 20 games on the season, including scoring at least 20 points in five contests with his specialty moves around the basket and tough defensive play.
Mowers played in 58 games over his two seasons at IVC.
He started 40 of the 58 contests in his career.
Mowers averaged an impressive 14.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in his two seasons at Irvine Valley.
He is headed to a Rogers State program that finished with a solid record of 21-11 overall, went 13-6 in the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletics Association and made the regional quarterfinals of the playoffs.
