The Irvine Valley men's basketball team will once again compete in the postseason.
The Lasers and second-year coach Jason Garey found out on Sunday that they will play in the 3C2A SoCal Regional Playoffs in the first round on Wednesday (Feb. 25) at Moorpark at 7 p.m.
Irvine Valley was given the No. 19 seed (and moved to 18 because of teams not playing conference opponents in the first round).d
Moorpark, coming off a solid regular season, earned the 14th seed.
The Raiders have a record of 19-9 overall and have won four straight games.
IVC finished the regular season with a mark of 16-12 overall.
Moorpark averaged 79.5 points per game (2225 total points) during the 28 regular season contests.
The Raiders shot 43.1 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from behind the arc. And they held their opposition to 71.6 points and 39.3 rebounds per game, respectively.
Moorpark's top players include Eric Kubel, who averaged 14.0 points per game, Josh Castaniero, who led the team in minutes and averaged 4.9 assists per game, Dominique Brutus, who shot 66.1 percent from the field and averaged 5.0 rebounds per contest.
IVC was led during the regular season by sophomore post player Matt Mowers, who averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game and freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri, who averaged 13.9 points and made 38.1 percent of his three-point attempts.
Admission prices at Moorpark for the playoffs are $12 for adults (13+) and $8 for students, faculty, staff, senior citizens, military veterans and children (5-12).
