Men's basketball team is back in action against LA Valley

The Irvine Valley men's basketball team is back in action on Tuesday night to close out the 2025 part of its year with a home game against LA Valley at 5 p.m.

The Lasers, who have a record of 9-4 overall, last played 10 days ago, falling to a tough Mt. San Antonio team, 98-84.

Sophomore wing Yanis Aldeguer led IVC with 16 points. He made 12 of 13 free throws.

Irvine Valley also had four other players in double figures with sophomore post player Matt Mowers with 14 points and seven rebounds, sophomore forward Garrett Trayer with 12 points and five rebounds, freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri with 11 points and freshman point guard Santos Cordero with 10 points.

Mowers, who was named first team all-Orange Empire Conference last season, paces the Lasers, averaging 16.1 points. 7.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game so far this season.

Los Angeles Valley has a record of 5-6 overall.

The Monarchs fell to Cypress, 82-62, on Dec. 17 at home in their last game. Derek Peterson finished with 18 points for LA Valley.

Peterson is averaging 15.3 points per game.

The Lasers play again on Jan. 7, hosting Cypress at 5 p.m. to start the OEC part of the schedule.
