Men's basketball team falters late, falls at Mt. San Jacinto

Irvine Valley's men's basketball team looked to pick up its fifth win of the season Wednesday night at Mt. San Jacinto.

But the Lasers gave up a three-point halftime lead and didn't score over the last three minutes of the game in a 72-66 defeat.

Irvine Valley's record went to 4-2 overall.

Freshman guard Ahmad Alhammouri led the Lasers with 22 points. He went 7 opf 12 from the field, 4 of 8 from three-point range and made all four of his free throws in the contest.

Sophomore wing Garrett Trayer added nine points and six rebounds for IVC.

Irvine Valley shot 42.1 percent from the field (24 of 57) overall, but only 33.3 percent (9 of 27) in the second half.

The Lasers (4-2 overall) now host Cuyamaca on Friday night at home at 5 p.m.
