Men's soccer team wins third straight match, beats Rio Hondo

The Irvine Valley men's soccer team captured its third straight win with a 3-1 victory at Rio Hondo under the lights on Friday night.

The Lasers have outscored their last three opponents, 11-2, in the three wins.

IVC plays again versus last year's 3C2A state champion, Cuyamaca, at home Tuesday at 4 p.m.

In the first state poll of the season, Cuyamaca was ranked sixth.

Irvine Valley scored its first goal in the 18th minute last Friday. Sophomore forward Finn Monk finished off of an assist from freshman forward Andrew Roldan.

The Lasers took the lead for good in the 28th minute when sophomore forward Isaac Nixon scored off a pass from sophomore forward Armin Tehrani.

Tehrani then set up sophomore defender Ethan Kofi Adu-Gyamfi in the 73rd minute to put the contest away.

Irvine Valley freshman goalie Sansiro Murata made seven saves in the match.
