The Irvine Valley women's basketball team not only captured the Orange Empire Conference title for the first time since the 2021-22 season, but the Lasers have one of the top seeds in the state heading into the start of the 3C2A playoff tournament this week.
Irvine Valley, which ended the regular season with a record of 24-4 overall, earned the No. 2 seed in the SoCal Regional Playoffs.
The Lasers receive a bye in the first round as one of the top eight teams in the South.
They will host their first game of the playoffs on Saturday at 7 p.m. against either No. 18 Rio Hondo or No. 15 Chaffey.
Going forward, the regional final would be on Saturday. Mar. 7 with the 3C2A State Tournament taking place the weekend after.
Other top seeds in Irvine Valley's quarter of the bracket are No. 9 Santa Barbara City and No. 7 Mt. San Jacinto.
Irvine Valley won the OEC title outright with the win at Fullerton, taking down the Hornets, 77-53.
Sophomores led the way.
Alexis Price finished with 25 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Lasers.
Symantha Barnett had 24 points, five rebounds, two assists and three blocks. She went 10 of 18 from the field.
And Kivonni Williams and Neryah Lokeni each contributed 10 points for IVC.
Lokeni also had nine rebounds, six assists and two steals and Williams ended with five rebounds and two steals.
