Irvine Valley's women's basketball coach Claire Gocke was recently named the Orange Empire Coach of the year.
She led the team to a record of 24-4 during the regular season and a mark of 10-2 in the OEC and a conference title.
It was the Lasers' first conference championship since 2021-22.
Through the regular season this year, Gocke has a career record of 40-18 overall.
The Lasers are looking forward to the postseason where they will be one of the top-seeded teams in the SoCal Regional Playoffs.
Those seedings and the playoff brackets will be announced this week.
As far as the OEC honors went for the Lasers, sophomore guard Symantha Barnett was named the OEC Most Valuable Player and first team all-conference.
Barnett served as the engine of the Lasers offense establishing herself as a true floor general.
She averaged 13.7 points per game, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while guiding Irvine Valley with a strong conference campaign.
Sophomore wing Alexis Price was also named first team all-conference for the second year in a row after averaging 14.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Sophomore forward Kivonni Williams was another star for the Lasers and earned defensive player of the year honors and first team all-OEC accolades.
She averaged 10.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals, while defending opponent's best front court and wing players for much of the season.
The fourth honor went to sophomore forward Gianna DeForest, who was named second team all-conference after playing in 26 games and averaging 5.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.
