Irvine Valley's women's basketball team went on the road Wednesday night and upset No. 9 in the state Orange Coast, 67-57, to improve its record to 17-3 overall.
Symantha Barnett led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals for the No. 11 Lasers.
Irvine Valley now takes on No. 25. Santa Ana on Friday at home at 7 p.m.
The Dons (13-7 overall and 1-3 in the OEC) defeated Riverside in a conference game, 67-49, on Wednesday on the road.
Faith Ledesma finished with 24 points and six rebounds, Aanaya Beard had 16 points and 13 rebounds, Mia Rivera chipped in nine points and eight rebounds and Kimberly Limon had 10 rebounds for Santa Ana.
On the year, Beard is averaging 17.4 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, Kiki Graham averages 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 steals and Rivera averages 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 3.2 steals per game.
On Wednesday at Orange Coast, Irvine Valley trailed, 34-31, at the half, but out-scored the Pirates, 36-23, over the final two periods.
IVC shot 46.9 percent (23 of 49) from the field as a team and held OCC to just a 36.5 percent (19 of 52) from the field for the game.
The Lasers had three players score in double figures in the game, led by sophomore guard Symantha Barnett with 23 points.
She went 7 of 11 from the field and made 9 of 12 free throws. Barnett added seven rebounds, four assists and four steals in the contest.
Sophomore forward Alexis Price chipped in with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and three blocks for the Lasers.
And sophomore wing Kivonni Williams ended with 10 points, eight rebounds and three assists for IVC.
On the year, Price is averaging 13.8 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 steals, Barnett averages 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds and Williams averages 11.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Lasers.
