The Irvine Valley women's basketball team had several players earn all-Orange Empire Conference honors after winning the OEC title with a record of 10-2 overall and then making the 3C2A State Championship Tournament.
And one of those key sophomore players has recently committed to a four-year college, joining Symantha Barnett and Alexis Price.
Standout forward Gianna DeForest is headed to NAIA College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Neb.
DeForest helped the Lasers finish with a 26-5 overall mark this past year - one of the best seasons in school history.
DeForest was named second-team all-Orange Empire Conference after playing in 26 games and averaging 5.9 points and 4.1 rebounds a game on the year for the Lasers.
The 5-10 post player out of Tustin High competed in 59 games and started in 20 contests at Irvine Valley in her two years at the college.
This past season, she scored in double figures in six games and finished with a season-high 15 points in Irvine Valley's 65-49 key win over Saddleback on Feb.4.
The Flames at the College of Sanit Mary finished with a record of 4-24 overall this past season.
