Irvine Valley's women's basketball team had its eight-game win streak snapped with a 55-51 defeat at Glendale on Saturday night in the Glendale Holiday Crossover.
IVC battled, but ran out of steam in its third game of the week.
The contest featured two of the top teams in the state.
Irvine Valley went into the game ranked No. 8 in the latest California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association state poll, while host Glendale came in at No. 14.
The Lasers were playing catch-up from the start. They fell behind, 13-4, after the first quarter and were down, 29-20, at the half.
Irvine Valley made a run in the third quarter, out-scoring Glendale, 18-12, to pull within 41-38 heading into the fina 10 minutes of the game.
But the Vaqueros held on.
IVC shot just 32.8 percent (20 of 61) from the field in the contest.
Glendale won the second-chance points battle, 12-0, and out-rebounded the Lasers, 43-32.
Irvine Valley's record went to 12-2 overall, while Glendale improved to 10-4 overall.
Irvine Valley was paced by sophomore wing Kivonni Williams with 18 points and six rebounds.
Sophomore forward Alexis Price had 12 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks and freshman guard Princess Mendoza added eight points.
Freshman guard Symantha Barnett contributed six points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Lasers.
Irvine Valley will take part in the Ventura Crossover Dec. 26-27.
The Lasers play Ventura on Dec. 26 at 6 p.m. and then Oxnard on Dec. 27 at 4 p.m.
